Ah, sto escludendo volontariamente i dischi italiani, a partire dal capolavoro 17 Re dei Litifba e successivamente, nei '90s, del mio disco italiano preferito, Epica Etica Etnica Pathos dei CCCP. non riesco a collocarli in una classifica globale e mi limiterò quindi...

... Anzi forse no. Devo pensarci e forse ri-ri-ri modifico la Classifica.

Premesso che considero gli "IMHO" nella musica fondamentali e che non stò a scrivere ad ogni post "per me"... non intendo sonorità ormai banali o altro perchè un assolo di Slash o un giro di basso di Duff tuttora mi mettono la pelle d'oca (Axl invece mi fà cagare tranne quando dice "honey") ma essendo un torneo sul miglior album e non sui migliori pezzi io quell'album devo avere voglia di ascoltarlo fino in fondo. E purtroppo i Guns, tranne Liars, che sarebbe entrato in una ipotetica Top25 probabilmente, dopo tre pezzi non riesco più ad ascoltarli, cambio disco. Cosa che non succede con i dischi che ho messo nella Top20.

Allo stesso tempo avrei voluto ri-ri-ri-modificare la Top20 inserendo i Tendencies ma se non li ascolto da anni (decenni?) forse un motivo c'è. La mia Top20 si basa sul disco in tutta la sua "interezza" e sul riuscire ad ascoltarlo dall'inizio alla fine senza timore di smentita.

Se le prime quindici posizioni sono state automatiche, il fondo della classifica in compenso è stato traumatico da redigere, a causa della mole indicibile di dischi che meriterebbero un posto in classifica. Ho deciso di premiare tre dischi che ho divorato durante il mio periodo da metalhead adolescente (The Fragile, Human e RIP), un album che dovrebbe stare più in su ma che paga la "freschezza", ovvero l'averlo ascoltato più tardi rispetto a molti altri dischi in classifica (Nick Cave) e un capolavoro east coast che non è in top-10 per lo stesso discorso di Murder Ballads (Big L, il padrino dell'horrorcore-rap).

Al primo posto invece il disco che mi ha svezzato e introdotto al rap e soprattutto alla scena east coast degli anni '90, un resoconto di New York documentaristico accompagnato dalle liriche di Nas (neanche ventenne quando uscì il disco, prodigio se ce n'è mai stato uno) e da alcuni dei beat più riconoscibili nella storia del genere (perché tutti si ricordano giustamente di N.Y. State Of Mind, ma The World Is Yours e It Ain't Hard To Tell sono la perfezione fatta macchine e batteria, e non voglio cominciare a parlare di Represent e Nas Is Like, cronache d'asfalto in puro stile east coast).

In un altro post forse elencherò le honorable mentions, perché ci sono troppi dischi che meritano una citazione (ciao Cap 'n Jazz ciao Dr. Dre ciao Lauryn Hill [ma almeno ho messo The Score in classifica], vi ho deluso un'altra volta).
