Vecchi/Vecchi&Inglese. Prosegue la costruzione di Makabe/Kidd, che per essere un "semplice" rookie/veterano sta venendo su bene. Mi aspetto l'upset a 'sto punto.

LIJ/CHAOS. Niente da dire, tutto abbastanza nella norma, non penso che il nuovo sfidante per Takagi arriva da Yoshi o Goto a 'sto punto.

Anche se l'intervista post sembrerebbe costruire un Shingo/Yoshi:


Suzuki/Nagata&Uemura. Classico match del rookie, con aggiunta di costruzione per Nagata/Suzuki che va sempre bene.

After teasing a ‘controversial idea’ backstage since Sengoku Lord in Nagoya, Kazuchika Okada held a special press conference today to announce the KOPW 2020 title. Unlike any other championship in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, this will not have a championship belt, and instead be reset at the end of each year. Here are the details:

The provisional KOPW 2020 will be decided across two nights, on August 26 in Korakuen Hall, and on August 29 at Summer Struggle in Jingu Stadium.

Eight wrestlers will wrestle in four singles matches on August 26.

Each wrestler will bring their own desired match rules to the first round. Okada suggested that ‘there are all kinds of rules. Two out of three falls, ladder, steel cage matches, it could be anything’.

Fans will vote on which wrestler’s rules the singles matches will be contested under.

The winners of those singles matches will advance to a four way match on August 29 under ‘regular’ four way rules. The winner of that match will be provisional KOPW2020.

The KOPW title can be defended until the end of the year, with stipulations to be voted on by fans. The winner of the last KOPW2020 title match of the year will be presented with the KOPW trophy, and the process begins anew in 2021!

Okada stated that this would provide action that is ‘completely different from what we’ve expected from IWGP titles, and from NJPW’ but represented a completely fresh approach. Don’t miss a second of KOPW2020 in NJPW!

L'idea sulla carta è molto meh, ma comunque inedita per il contesto NJPW
Tutto dipende come lo fanno.

Però a sto punto unifichino le due cinture che già erano tante prima, ora se ne aggiunge un'altra.

Ho buttato un occhio su Fatal-4.

Allora il primissimo è del 2009, un Fatal-4 per le cinte tag jr.
Nel 2013, idem per i tag.

Dal 2014 praticamente diventa una caratteristica degli Jr. e dei tour negli US, quindi diventa una modalità di booking della ROH con nomi NJPW (che poi sono sempre stati una caratteristica ROH).

Dal 2017 poi si abbandona il campo Jr. Tag, e si passa a caratteristica NEVER Six-Men e show con ROH e UK.
L'unica eccezione a questo arriva nel 2018 con il titolo Jr. Heavy.

Nel primo match Makabe e Kidd che se menano fomenta a besta, non vedo l'ora di vederli in single e sono sempre più fiducioso in Kidd. Anche Kojima/Ishii mi è piaciuto, un one on one me lo rivedrei con goduria sicuramente.

Secondo match senza vecchi che si menano, ma con Yano. Mmm sembrerebbe che la direzione sia Shingo/YOSHI per la cinta Openweight, mah, ok.

Alla conferenza stampa hanno detto (parlando di Moxley) che la regola è che un campione deve difendere il titolo una volta ogni 6 mesi, ma per via della pandemia questo limite decaderà momentaneamente, quindi sia Moxley, ma anche i Roppongi 3K terranno le loro cinture - che con Mox ok ha senso, i Roppongi hanno YOH infortunato quindi potrebbero pure dropparli, ma è anche vero che hanno solo altri due team jr disponibili.

I tornei bene o male vanno bene (quello degli Young lion non lo fanno tutti gli anni).
I titoli sono effettivamente troppi. A sto punto unifichino IWGP e IC che tanto sono già insieme.

There are no plans to strip R3K of the Jr. Tag Titles even though YOH just went under the knife for his ACL. Dave comments on the belts, noting that the only belts in play are the HW and IC belts (which are merged at the moment), the tag belts, the junior belt, the NEVER belt, and... that's it. He doesn't mention the fact that the NEVER trios belts are spread between two factions, but when have those belts been taken seriously? It looks like Jingu Stadium will be set up at 30% capacity again, and they are running the stadium to mostly generate the revenue lost from cancelling Wrestling Dynasty in NYC. Finally, Hiromu's shoulder injury is apparently real, and the company capitalized on it with Ishimori targeting it during the 7/26 and 7/27 matches. Despite his absence from the following shows, he is expected to be ready for his defense at Jingu Stadium on 8/29.
