Who would have imagined that we'd be talking about Dean Ambrose's WWE exit so early into 2019? As things stand, The Lunatic Fringe will leave the company after his contract expires after WrestleMania 35 and even the WWE has come out to confirm the report.

But what compelled WWE to release a statement confirming reports of the departure of a top superstar? Wade Keller of PWTorch, who was the first to break the news of Ambrose's contract status, has come out to reveal the possible reason behind WWE's acceptance of Ambrose's current situation.

Keller of PWTorch opined that the WWE is answerable to the media as well as the investors whenever reports of a top superstar's apparent displeasure start doing the rounds. It gets even more important to address the circumstances when you are talking about a guy who has been a consistent feature in the upper card for more than 5 years.

He put out a host of scenarios wherein he mentioned that WWE may have just wanted to own the big narrative of a well-built superstar refusing to sign a lucrative WWE contract.

He explained, "I mean can they ignore it? I’m sure there’s an internal discussion. It doesn’t come up much that a story of that magnitude gets out there without their controlling it. So maybe putting the statement out was just a way to grab the reins and say, ‘Alright we’re a little in control of this because we’re going to own what the truth is."

It's been a turbulent month for the WWE as the promotion has been reeling with many talents expressing their desire to quit the company. AEW is on the prowl and is willing to sign anyone who can bring value to the upstart promotion. to make matters worse for WWE, AEW has tremendous financial backing from the wealthy Khan family who are worth billions.
